Rules for property division in India
Amitabh Bachchan had told during the show Kaun Banega Crorepati that when he will leave this world. So his property will be distributed equally between his two children Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Zindabad. The person distributes the property to be distributed among his legal heirs. The ratio for dividing property is decided through mutual consent or court orders. Only biological children and adopted children legally get a share in the property. Stepchildren are not counted among the shareholders of the property. Even if a person has converted to religion, he is still entitled to his share in the property.
Who gets how much property?
If a person has a son, a daughter and a wife at the time of his death, all three will get one-third share. If a person has two sons and a wife at the time of his death, all three will get one-third share. If at the time of someone’s death he has two daughters and a wife, then in such a case also all three will get one-third share. If a person has a son or daughter and a wife at the time of his death, then both will get half the share.
